[Video Below ] Boston Dynamics, a robotic company, have announced that its robots are now sale for commercial use. They plan to start distributing its robots to partners through special leasing and a negotiated quote. The name of their robot will be “Spot”, a robot that resembles a dog but with a robotic multi-function hand as its head.

Boston Dynamics described Spot as ” a nimble robot that handles objects, climbs stairs, and will operate in offices, homes and outdoors.” This is the vision that the company currently has for the robot as Spot is introduced discreetly to the public. They use the word outdoors because Spot will be a commercial robot used by many different businesses. See below for new released video of the few applications that SPOT might have to deal with when it will be programmed by business developers

You can see what is required to purchase SPOT at this link, Boston Dynamics website .

In the video, although Spot, is the first robot to have limbs that will be introduced to us this year, many other companies have already began to introduce cities with robots navigating along the sidewalk with us. Many have probably already seen a self driving Tesla vehicle, or testing self-driving Uber vehicle. But the most visible and the very near proximity to technology that we will be walking and seeing are robots.

On April 16, 2019, a startup called, Kiwi, announced that the company plans to expand its delivery robot, the Kiwibot, to 15 campuses like Harvard and MIT. Currently, Kiwi operates on the UC Berkeley campus. These robot companies are a few of many who have announced that there will be robots operating on our cities’ sidewalks.

The term robots may seem like an experimental term used by mechanical engineer, but in the peripheral future, it is term that will be constantly used by customers.Mechanical engineers has already surpassed the capabilities and applications that their robots can do in many different fields. It is not a matter of can it actually be done, but a matter of what do you want to be done.

For instance, in the beginning of this year, a Youtube video went viral of a Russian robot, from the Android Technological Production Association, operating two firearms (not parts of the robot). The robot is called FEDOR, and the engineers behind stated that after the video went online, they stopped getting imported robot parts from their partners.

Evgeny Dudorov, the executive director, stated ” everything related to gearboxes, sensors, motors, cameras, computers — literally until last year we used imported components, and now we are gradually switching to our own developments.” In the video, you can see the many other applications that the robot is being taught to remember to do when the stored code is applied to its command functions.

Again as stated before, in the peripheral future, ” It is not a matter of can it actually be done, but a matter of what do you want to be done.”
